WCSD Adopts Irrigation Restriction
June 01, 2015
On April 1, 2015, Governor Brown issued the fourth in a series of Executive Orders on actions necessary to address California's severe drought conditions, which directed the State Water Board to implement mandatory water reductions in urban areas to reduce potable urban water usage by 25 percent statewide. On May 5, 2015, the State Water Board adopted an emergency conservation regulation in accordance with the Governor's directive. The provisions of the emergency regulation went into effect on May 15, 2015. The State's resolution and adopted regulations can be found here.
In response to the new regulations, the WCSD Board of directors adopted Resolution 15-03 limiting irrigation of ornamental landscape and turf to no more than two days per week in order to meet the State's requirements. Details of the restriction are being developed by committee and are expected to be presented at the regular board meeting scheduled for June 24th, 2015.
